Comments about PetSafe PetSafe Yard and Park Dog Training Collar:
I have trained dogs for years, and always thought that folks who could not train their dogs to "recall" were a problem. Now I live to eat my words...because I have a young dog that seems impervious to all my previous training techniques. As a last resort, I started using this product. Though I worry about her knowing she is wearing it and acting accordingly....She has become MUCH more amenable to my commands in a very short period of time. I will wean her off this stimulation as soon as I am able. However..it has helped me correct her easily when she isn't near me.

Comments about PetSafe PetSafe Yard and Park Dog Training Collar:
My very hyper boxer needs lots of attention and exercise. If not given she get's quite aggressive.
This collar helps by reminding her with the sound of the beep that if she doesn't calm down she will get zapped.
Hardly ever zap but helps alot!!!

Comments about PetSafe PetSafe Yard and Park Dog Training Collar:
This is only as good as it's handler. No dog should be subject to electric shock repeatedly, and is not a substitute for close proximity and time teaching.
It is effective, and merely needs typically one use of shock and the beep is enough to get the response. Timing is everything, EXACTLY when the negative behavior occurs, and lots of praise when it stops or is done right.
this is not for impatient or frustrated owners.
Comments about PetSafe PetSafe Yard and Park Dog Training Collar:
I bought this product so that I could hike with my dog off-leash without fear he would wander and chase a critter or another dog. My dog has had excellent obedience training and is very well behaved, but at only 15 months old his desire to go play with another dog on the hiking trail was sometimes stronger than his desire to listen to a recall command. Now with the collar, he can run back and forth and all around while we hike and he gets so much more excercise compared with being leashed! I have had the collar several months now and have only had to shock him twice. He usually doesn't even need a warning beep now, he just obeys. The only thing I would change is that the remote doesn't have an on/off switch and the buttons could accidently be pushed if in your pocket, but I just keep the remote on the enclosed string and slip-knot it to my beltloop.
