Used most often when visitors are arriving and dog is jumping up on them. Immediately gets dogs attention and keeps it in check often not needing the shock, just the audible beep.
Only negative is battery life. Unit must be shut off when not being used or battery will die very quickly. This keeps it from being used consistantly when visitors pop in unexpectedly.

Our standard Poodle pup had been pulling when walking, biting at our hands, jumping on strangers and taking anything it could get a hold of off the table. We tried reward training, puppy class training (she failed) and even had the trainer come to the house. Her objectionable behaviors continued despite our efforts. My wife finally agreed to let me buy the Sportdog training device. After a brief use, our puppy's bad behaviors changed for the better. She still needs a reminder now and then but just putting the collar receiver on her without any signal improves her behavior. I only regret I didn't convince my wife earlier. We would have been a lot happier with our dog much sooner. This is an excellent training device and if used according to the instructions should work every time. The only CON is I bought spare batteries when I ordered Sportdog and did a lot better in price by buying elsewhere. I still am using the original batteries that came with it!!!

This is the first e-collar I've used. Feeling nervous about using it I consulted the instructions that came with the product and my dog trainer. Both gave me the same advice, which was a good sign. The product itself works exactly as advertised. My recalcitrant Aussie now comes on command, avoids goose droppings (his FAVORITE snack) and walks for miles off-leash right at my side, even through town. These are training goals I've had for a long time, so I'm delighted that we've reached them. By this product if you have a willful dog.

i have a mixed boxer year and half old and with the training I gave her, she responded well..at least i thought she did..we would be in public, she ignored me, she ignored me when people came over, she repeated behaviors that wasn't approved of after getting disciplined many times before. She was tearing apart my relationship with my fiance at one point. I always felt he didn't like her because he commanded respect instantly that she wasn't willing to do with him (sit, stay, no etc) but she did with me..that's when i knew she wasn't listening esp when she knew right from wrong. She displayed good behaviors and was rewarded, but seemed as though she only did so for the reward. This device SAVED me from the stress/ turmoil that I've experienced with her personally and in my relationship about her. She responds as she is suppose to and she listens as she does not like to be shocked for bad behaviors. I cannot stress enough how much this product really got her to listen. The only downside to this device is the battery life. I guess because I am a frequent user of the device where ever we go, i shouldn't be surprised the battery life isn't long lasting. I take it off before bed and put it on as the day events progress. I love it!!...All of us are doing better than ever!!
