We have used the Cat Veranda (seasonally) for two years. Our 2 average-size cats enjoy it. it took them less than a day to figure out how to go in & out. We helped by holding the flap open for them the first few times. When we first got the veranda, they both crowded out onto it at the same time, and we ended up getting another Veranda so they wouldn't fight over it! It seems reasonably easy to install (my husband does that part). We do have to take it out when the weather gets cold because the flap lets in some drafts, just as with the Window Cat Door made by the same company. The piece of carpeting that comes with the veranda gets wet when it rains, but it is very easy to remove, dry out & replace. When properly installed, the veranda is very sturdy and well anchored. I wouldn't hesitate to use it even on an upstairs window. I highly recommend this product. Well worth the price. Just be aware that if you live in an area that has cold winters you will probably want to remove it during the cold weather... which is easy enough to do... and there is cause for much feline rejoicing when the veranda comes out again in spring!
