We have several acres of land and as our area has grown, more neighbors now, we have to contain our dogs. I had a lot of people tell me the only thing to do was tie them up. Including my husband telling me he heard underground fences won't work with hunting dogs. It was a little work puttig it in the ground, drive way and such. One shock was all it took (those seconds are probably the ony hard part of the entire process installation and training, I am soft hearted.) We have happy contained dogs now. This is a great product. One dog is a puppy and chews through the adult dog's collar, and we have lost a collar that way, they aren't cheap. It is worth it still!

Comments about SportDog SportDog Underground Electric Dog Fence:
We have a Belgian Malinios. He is nothing but muscle and energy. He could easily clear the fence around the 1.5 acres in the back yard, and we hoped this would keep him in the yard and safe. It took us about 4 hours to install the fence, with one minor modification. We had to use pvc connected together with joints to protect the wire since the ground where we live was already frozen. We will bury it in the spring. The remainder of the fence is laced through our exsisting fence, and that went quickly. There are alot of deer, antelope, and rabbits that pass through our yard, and while Sam broke the boundary once, it hasn't happened since. He can run really really really fast, and I am not sure the boundary was wide enough to correct him. Now it is and he watches the deer and then goes on about playing. This fence works great and the collar is not having any problems holding up to rolling and playing in the snow. This was more than worth every penny!!!

Comments about SportDog SportDog Underground Electric Dog Fence:
We have three dogs, two of which were constantly getting out of our yard. A fully fenced shy acre. One (a lab whippet mix) jumped out the other (a golden retriever)weasled her way under the fence.
Our jumper was the neighborhood nuisance and our neighbors were starting to complain. It was either get the electric fencing, build a dog run or get rid of the dog. The latter was not an option so we order the fencing.
Since the day of installation, we've only had one "run through" escape and that was the first day. After 6 months, the dogs no longer go within three feet of the existing fence with our without the radio collars.
I can honestly say that I believe this product saved our dogs life. He was a prime target of angry neighbors, the animal control and maybe even traffic.
If you're thinking about getting an invisible fence, strongly consider buying this one.
It was a little time consuming to install given the full acre, but we buried the line around the perimeter and put the control box in our garage. I think if you have dogs that you need to keep contained in a certain area and you don't mind doing a little digging, you can't go wrong with this product.
Besides the physical labor, the only other con was the fact that we have three dogs so we had to purchase two additional collars. They can be a bit pricey.

We installed the underground electric fence on our new property that we just bought. Our dogs English Setter is 3 1/2 years old and she has never used an electric fence before and she was completely new to our property. She was trained in 3 days. That Easy! Very good product and I would recommend to anyone. I purchased the SDF100 because my sister has one for her 2 year old Irish Setter and she loves it as well.

I had two areas that I needed blocked off. I was unable to wire both areas with only one box. I am not sure it this box is weather proof.
My dogs took only two corrections to figure it out. Great product
